How can mobility data make cities and territories more accessible?
How do you identify an under-used rail line? Where should new bike stations go? These questions are answered by analysing real flows.
How do you identify an under-used rail line? Where should new self-service bike stations be installed? How do users reach a specific point - a retail area, a leisure park, a company - at what time and by which mode? More broadly, how do you design a mobility policy in line with the goals of eco-responsible, inclusive mobility, and assess its effects?
These questions are answered by analysing real flows and real usage. Yet they are sometimes tackled without rigorous data work, leading to under-used infrastructure: an oversized car park that stays empty, a poorly located bike station, a saturated line for lack of anticipation. In each case, finer use of data would have avoided costly after-the-fact adjustments.
Counting data from sensors, cameras and validation terminals; GPS and Floating Car Data to analyse journeys in real time; Open Data from INSEE or operators; ticketing and season tickets; multimodal flows accessible through APIs and MaaS platforms. Used in a coordinated way, these datasets provide a complete view of mobility dynamics.
